The Tuition Assistance (TA) program offers up to 100% coverage of tuition and required fees for eligible active-duty service members taking off-duty classes at accredited colleges and universities. This support is available to those in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard, and Reserves, and also helps servicemembers earn a high school diploma. In exchange for this educational benefit, participants agree to a service commitment. It's important to maintain a minimum GPA, as falling below it may require repayment of the TA funds.
Funding is limited to $250 per semester credit hour ($166 per quarter credit hour) and $4,500 per year. Servicemembers may use GI Bill benefits to “top up” (supplement) TA benefits, paying the difference between tuition and actual TA benefits for high-tuition programs. (Tuition Assistance is sometimes referred to as a “kicker” when used in conjunction with GI Bill benefits.)
