If you are a dependent student as determined by the FAFSA, FAFSA will ask for the household size of your FAFSA parent. Your parent’s household size will include:
- You the student will always be counted
- The student’s FAFSA parent and their spouse
- Your siblings or other dependents if your parent will provide more than half their support during the FAFSA award year, or if they also would be considered dependent for FAFSA purposes (siblings do not need to live in the house to be included in the household size)
If you are an independent student as determined by the FAFSA, FAFSA will ask for your household size. You would include:
- You the student
- Your spouse if you are married
- Your children or other dependents for which you and your spouse are financial responsible for during the FAFSA award year or would otherwise be considered a dependent on the FAFSA
