The U.S. Presidential Scholars program is a prestigious award with only up to 161 students receiving the coveted honor each year. Students can be selected as Presidential Scholars based upon demonstrated academic achievement, possessing extraordinary talent in the visual and performing arts or creative writing, or demonstrated ability and accomplishment in career and technical education fields. Scholars receive all types of opportunities as this honor is recognized all over the world as something quite exceptional and worthy of praise. Scholars also receive a trip to Washington D.C. to attend a ceremony where they are presented with a medallion commemorating the award.
Students can not apply for a Presidential Scholarship on their own, they must be invited. A few ways to receive an invitation are to score extremely high on the SAT/ACT, get nominated by a chief state school officer (CSSO)or partner organization or get nominated by the National YoungArts Program.
