The three major credit bureaus, Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax collect your financial history information and present them in a report that shows your current accounts as well as your account history and other pertinent financial information. The reports show information such as
- personal identification
- past credit history such as accounts (both closed and current), status of those accounts and payment history
- current credit usage and the status of your financial accounts
- public financial records such as bankruptcies, foreclosures, liens and civil judgements
- companies and groups that have made hard and soft requests on your credit
Your credit report may be used by credit lenders, insurance agencies, house or apartment rental agencies, utility services, and possibly future employers to help them make decisions.
