Your credit report is compiled and shared by three major reporting agencies, Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. These groups collect your information on your financial history and use it to calculate your credit score, meaning each agency may report a slightly different score, as they collect and maintain their own credit report information. The information they collect and sell as credit reports may be:
- Original amount of a loan
- Credit card credit limits
- Credit card or loan balances
- Loan or credit card account payment status
- Bills sent to collection
- Bankruptcies and judgements that are public records
