In general, there is no limit to the number of scholarships you can apply to and win. However, it’s rare to win so many scholarships that you meet or exceed all your financial needs to pay for school, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. Researching and applying to scholarships can be time consuming but your odds of winning one or more increase with each new application submitted, so keep trying.
With each scholarship you win, the award will likely be reported to your school where your financial aid package may be adjusted to reflect the new monies being applied to your account. Now, school’s will only allow you to receive financial aid up to your program’s cost of attendance, which is determined by your school. Meaning, if you have scholarship funds which exceed your total cost of attendance, your school may require you defer some of your awards for future years. The way you would manage these scholarship funds may be up to the scholarship provider. Some scholarship providers will hold your funds until you are able to use them, or they will allow you to place the funds in a college savings plan. If you’re lucky enough to be in this situation, you may need to coordinate the way you manage your funds between your scholarship provider and school.
